A NEW feature is being tested on this Forum.....

One member of this Forum stated that they would like to see a button added to the forum pages allowing for a quick and easy way to navigate to the Top of Page when viewing a long post or thread.

It turns out that someone wrote a Plugin for Version 5 that adds a button on the page to quickly navigate To The Top or To The Bottom of the page. We will try that plugin on this Forum to evaluate its usefulness.

Look to the bottom right of the page and you will see a grayed out image of an up arrow or down arrow depending on your location on the page. Hover over it to see it better. Click on it and you will be taken to the top or bottom of the page you are on.

Your opinion on this plugin (Back to Top version 1.6.0) and its usefulness will be appreciated so that I can decide if it is a feature that we want to continue to use on this forum.

Well, we will try it out for a while. With Plugins, you never know if the code will have unwanted side effects to the forum software, and if it will work properly with all the different web browsers in use by your members.

Let me know if you find anything strange happening that could be the result of this plugin..........

Well, that did not take long....... I found some problems with this plugin already.

Using the Firefox Browser version 20.0.1, I found that this plugin causes the browsers BACK button to not work properly. Same problem with the IE8 browser.

Also, when using IE8, the up/down arrow image does not "gray out" properly and is displayed on top of the posts photo in an unattractive manner.

I only have those two Browsers, so I don't have the means to test the plugin on others.

Have any other members noted any problems with this Plugin?

Ira, We have used it both with laptop & desktop that have IE7 and our iPads and it works flawless.  We find it useful.  Thank you for trying it out. We like the feature.

That problem has gone away, so It may have been a problem being experienced by the Proboards server and not this plugin.

It works fine on Google Chrome and I find it a convenient way to move around the site. Thanks
