Please take note of this story about Two Photographers at Circle B ranch who were touching a Sandhill Crane colt trying to get a better shot. That activity is in violation of Florida Law and could result in up to a $500 fine and 60 days in jail. Over-friendly photographers could face chargesIf you recognize either of the two men, you're asked to call Florida Fish & Wildlife at 1-888-404-FWCC.

Thank you for sharing Ira, bet they had no clue what charges could be brought against them. I am sure that that did not know know that their activity was in violation of law and that criminal charges could be filed against them, but I don't think that will appease the FWC. Remember the incident a few months ago in the same area of the state where the woman was riding on the back of a Manatee? This is just a reminder to photographers that when photographing wildlife to keep your distance and keep interaction at a bare minimum to avoid disturbing your subjects. Otherwise, you could be looking at criminal charges resulting in fines. Almost everybody these days has a camera in their phone, and you never know who may be taking photos of that could document your disturbing wildlife...........

Some of you may know Heather Green, one of our members from long ago. She has written an article on this and other incidents on her Heather Green Photography Blog saying " I am thrilled to see a trend taking place…photographers taking pictures of people breaking the law where wildlife is concerned." Yes, I was at Three Sisters Spring last week and a similar thing was said about Manatee's. They can come to you, and then you can pet them. But you cannot go up to them and pet them. And there were representatives in wetsuits ready to write up violators ($500 fines). It is a good thing. It just needs to be advertised.
