Attached is the future management plan for the Viera Wilderness Park. This park will be contiguous to the Moccasin Island Tract. Contained in this Management Plan is a description of the plan for Burrowing Owls as well as other birds.
Thank you Frank for linking to this Habitat Management Plan for The Viera Wilderness Park. I note that it was revised on December 10, 2009, that's about 10 years ago! Wonder what progress if any has happened since then......
Is The Viera Wilderness Park planed as a park with public access? Some information on the park can be found here, Viera Wilderness Park but it does not address public access to the land.
I too found the Viera Wilderness Park Management Plan interesting. It looks as though some of fields on the west side of the Viera Wetlands have potential to be developed. I don't believe we will see any movement on creating the Wilderness Park until Duda has completed development. I'm not certain but it might be that the land slated for the Wilderness Park is currently classified as Conservation Easement. It would be interesting to know.
