Wow, looks like it was a great walk. Alligators are such interesting creatures to me coming from Iowa. It's an amazing walk. Especially this time of year when the black bears are more active. I just saw a black bear there this past Wed. There are also deer and pigs, and a variety of snakes and turtles. (I have seen water moccasin, pygmy rattlesnakes, eastern cooter, eastern ribbon snake, and some type of snapper) That's just after going there a handful of times this past month. (20 mins from Orlando, my home) There is also a campsite there. I plan to camp it in January. The birding is quite decent. Wood peckers (red bellied, peliated), herons, hawks (red shoulder), limpkins, vultures, egrets, barred owls, and lots of others I can't identify (I have photos I can share though) It is really quite a special place. 7.5 mile loop is well worth it. ...especially now with minimal mosquitoes, active bears and sunning reptiles. Was there again today, and the otters were at play every 3ish miles or so.
