I'm sorry for the crappy image. These things didn't stay in one place for long. I saw a bunch scampering across the surfaces of the St Johns river, the water was like glass. I guess it is a spider. I liked the reflection of it's underside I saw after cropping.

Interesting shot, Tim. Notice how you can see how the water tension at each leg holds the spider on the surface of the water. You can see a slight depression at each leg where the water tension is pushing back allowing the spider to walk on the water.  shot indeed......  .

Great eye, Ira, I hadn't seen that. They were wild to see, they literally ran across the water, I'm sure the glassy water helped their cause. I emailed the U of F entomologist & he sent me this link. bugguide.net/node/view/1963/bgpage
