The Viera Wetlands were closed after Hurricane Irma because high water forced the county to take hourly samples of the water in the cells for testing. Today, November 1, 2017 the Viera Wetlands were reopened to the public. The workers still need to take water samples for testing, so please don't get in the way of those workers.

Although the Viera Wetlands are now open to vehicles, as of Friday 11/10/2017 the Dan Click Ponds were still closed to the public. Also, the 4 mile road to the Moccasin Island Tract (aka MIT) parking lot is closed. The road is open for a short distance to allow workers and trucks access to the Duda grass fields, but right after the entrance to the last field you will find the road blocked by tractor and plow photo below. A few years ago the road was washed out during high water in a canal, and I suspect that is the reason for the current closure.
