We hiked for several days in 2 wilderness areas, near Grants, in Northwest New Mexico. The Cebolla Wilderness and El Malpais National Monument are remote and rugged lands of incredible beauty and abundant pioneer and Anazasi ruins. No formal trails exist in the area so good compass navigation skills and/or GPS is recommended for non-locals. Looks like a neet place. Must have been a tough place to make a go of it though living back in the times those structures were built.
