We were up along the St. Mary's River on Monday and spied this Black Crowned Night heron in a tree right over our heads. The no see um's there were worse than piranha causing us to make a hasty retreat!!!

Nice find and photograph, Frank. I don't know if the exposure to the bites of the "No See Um's" was worth the chance to photograph the bird.
You sure seem to visit a lot of areas around the state........

My wife and I do visit a lot of places in the state but mostly within the Brevard, Osceola, Orange and Seminole counties. We have been exploring the "wild" areas for nearly 30 years and rarely run into any other people in the natural areas or even see many cars parked at the trail heads to those areas .... VERY SAD!!!!
