Red Shouldered Hawks are often found at the Dan Click Ponds in Viera, Florida looking for prey.

Thanks, Ira. Great capture of their detailed feather pattern and the eye. Do you know the age or sex?

Thanks, Ira. Great capture of their detailed feather pattern and the eye. Do you know the age or sex? Well, I know that it is a full grown adult, but I don't know the age or sex.

Thanks Ira. Just wondering, I have seen them with different color patterns on the breast, some being more reddish brown.

Thanks Ira. Just wondering, I have seen them with different color patterns on the breast, some being more reddish brown. As a Red Shouldered Hawk ages, it's color patterns on the breast do in fact change. The two photos below show that change. The breast of the juvenile Red Shouldered Hawk is covered with tear drop or heart shaped blotches... The adult Red Shouldered Hawk on the other hand has a breast with non vertical stripes that are reddish to brown in color.
