While out at the Moccasin Island Tract we spotted these two Eagles. This Eagle was spotted in field while driving down the road out to Moccasin Island Tract Same Eagle as above. This Eagle was spotted along road south of parking area. It's nest was just to the right of its perch.

I was wondering if the Eagle's Nest had survived the hurricane.... now I know. On the way to the MIT parking lot this morning I saw one of the Eagles way off across the canal in a pine tree. It was too for away for a good shot, but I took a photograph anyway.

Nice shot!!! Your consistant ability to pull in the long shots at full telephoto is something I'm very bad at. Does your Canon 7D have a full frame sensor or the APS-C sized sensor?

My Canon 7D has a APS-C sensor. It's a great camera but it's the telephoto lens that makes the difference. I use the Tamron 150-600mm lens. Best purchase I have ever made..........

I have the same Canon 70-300mm as you and am not very happy with its image quality. My little Nikon P530 consistently out performs that Canon lens. I also have a Canon 55-250mm that has better image quality than the 70-300mm. The zoom and image quality is evident with your Tamron 150-600mm. It is an expensive acquisition but apparently well worth the cost. I'm thinking ........

Actually, the Tamron 150-600mm lens cost me only about $1100.00. Quite a bargain if compared to the Canon 600mm at $14,000 or more! Also, the Tamron is small enough that using it hand held is very easy.

I looked at the physical spec's for the Tamron 200-500mm and noted that the weight is approximately 4.5 lbs. I'm thinking that its weight and size would be a bit too much to tote around in the woods for several hours. I have found it on sale (on line)in the mid $700's. For that price and considering its capabilities it is most tempting.

The image quality of the 200-500mm is not that good compared to the new 150-600mm that replaced it, as such I no longer use it. B&H Photo is selling the Tamron SP 150-600mm f/5-6.3 Di VC USD Lens for Canon (the one I have) at $799. They have a new version for full frame cameras selling for $1299. See B&H
