I recently had issues with my 40D giving me this error message. I followed the troubleshooting guidelines and it has to be sent in for repair. Has anyone had their camera fixed after this Error message and was the camera the same afterwards? I still love my 40D andtook a lot of photos before having this issue. Just wondering. Thanks for any insight.

Did you remove both batteries, let it sit for about 15 minutes, then replace the batteries? That resets a Canon camera and sometimes gets rid of that ERR99. Rest assured if Canon repairs the problem, you should be good as new when you get it back.
I have never has a problem with a body, but did have to send a lens in for repair under warenty and experienced nothing bad.

Ira, thanks for responding. I did all the instructions that Canon recommended. After checking the three troubleshooting recommendations , Canon recommends sending it back. I am sure it will be fine, it is just that I am a little protective of that camera.
