The first 2 photos are bad quality, but I found the bird feather colors intriguing, I am guessing it was recently fledged, it seems to early to molt to winter feathers. It was on Lake Ponto in Cass county, Minn. on a rainy day & a good ways out on the water. The better photos were taken on Lower Whitefish lake near Crosslake, Minn. There was close to a hundred of them spread across the lake's horizon.

Thanks Frank, it was a treat to see so many of them up close, we would turn off boat engine & coast near them. The one's on Whitefish lake were molting into winter feathers, the water was full of shed feathers.
