Does anyone have any experience using this camera? I'm assuming since it is Canon it must be a good camera. I read that "noise" was sometimes a factor at extended zoom lens capacity. Any comments will be appreciated. Thank you.

I can not speak to that camera but I can tell you that I have a Nikon Coolpix P530 which is quite similar in capabilities which I am very happy with. Most of my outdoor activities involve hiking long distances along trails with a lot of plain old bushwhacking. My Nikon is very light so its presence on my shoulders is not noticeable even after carrying it for many hours (I use a shoulder/chest harness). Also, its size combined with the camera harness keeps it safely out of harms way while bushwhacking or climbing over fallen trees and closed gates. For many years I carried a Canon Rebel with telephoto and was always banging it or the telephoto against something. The Nikon P530 is a great camera for anyone who wants a good go-to camera or who plans to spend a lot of time off the beaten path ... especially while carrying a backpack with a couple quarts of water and other stuff. That said, I would not hesitate to buy another camera like the Canon or my Nikon because it fits my specific needs. By the way most of the photos I have posted here have been taken with the Nikon Coolpix P530.

Thanks Frank, I did buy this camera & have had it 2 days, so not much experimentation yet. Seems to take good images, I think a monopod or tripod would be helpful at maximum zoom & it can take a second or 2 to focus at maximum zoom, but I really like the lens versatility in focal length & it takes videos.
