The Catesby's Lily (Lilium catesbaei), a state threatened species, is found in wet pinewoods and savannas and blooms in the summer and fall. This Catesby's Lily also known a Pine Lily was photographed in the Tosohatchee WMA.

Cool flower, is the growth at the left a bud? It is pretty amazing the factors that can stress & threaten a plant or animal.

Yes that is a bud. We do not see these plants very often so it is very special when we do. You are right on the money about the unique habitats required by these plants and how stresses imparted due to changes to the environment can easily imperil their existence.
