I thought this was pretty cool. I believe it is a long leaf pine seedling growing out of the remaining cavity of a long deceased sabal palm. Tosohatchee South WMA, very wet, couldn't get near taylor creek or the pond.

It is amazing what you often find growing in those old rotten sabal palm cavities. I once found a very nice whisk fern growing inside a cavity just like the one you photographed.

I always like the circle of life thing and all the moss covered decaying stuff.
