Ritch Grissom Memorial Wetlands - A Birding Guide - Published in April of this year and available through Kindle, the guide was compiled by Emily Hazen, 17, a Viera resident and wetlands volunteer. Ms Hazen conceived the project as a way to benefit the wetlands, not only to raise funds for conservation efforts -- proceeds from sales of the ebook go to the cause -- but also to raise awareness of our fragile environment, encourage more visitors, and inspire more people to volunteer their efforts. The guide highlights 46 bird species that frequent the wetlands. It is helpfully organized by bird size and includes detailed descriptions and interesting trivia, drawings of avian silhouettes to aid identification, and amazing photographs provided by Viera Wetlands volunteers Judy Tatum Lane, Harry Behret, John Bridges, Joe Vinski, and Alan Koechlein. Each bird entry also includes a small map of the wetlands showing the cells where the bird can generally be found (see sample page below). The guide also features a brief history of the wetlands, visitor information, and a site locator map. Ritch Grissom Memorial Wetlands - A Birding Guide is available as an ebook from Amazon Digital Services, Inc., and is compatible with Kindle Touch, Kindle Keyboard, Kindle (2nd Generation), and Kindle DX. The ebook can be read with Kindle Unlimited membership, or purchased for $4.99. Proceeds from sale of the ebook will support our wetlands. You can also download a app which will allow you to read the book on any device at this site.
