Tripods

Mornin' Everyone,

I am looking to purchase a decent tripod, and am just at the beginnings of research, etc.   I shoot with a canon 7d, and currently, my largest/heaviest lens is a 70-300 mm.  I do "hope" to purchase something larger when funds allow :-)

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good tripod?  I know that there are a million options out there, and was just hoping that some of you could chime in with your opinions.  Thanks a lot, and have a great one !

I purchased a Manfrotto 055XPROB tripod at around $150. For the head, I chose the Manfrotto 322RC2 which has a hand grip to release the hold on the ball head for another $150.

The head looks like this and allows you to quickly move your camera to the subject to take your photos. It also has a quick release pad so that you can dismount the camera from the tripod in an instant.

Thanks a lot for the info Ira. I will definitely check into that. I really like the layout of the hand grip, etc. on that head.
