I keep coming back to these photos of yours because they provide outstanding captures of an exceptionally beautiful bird. We will be heading over to the Tampa/USF area soon. Where did you photograph this bird and do you have any recommendations for areas where we might be likely to see these Yellow Crowned Night Herons? I have canoed the Hillsborough River all the way up to the State Park many times and do not recollect ever seeing any of these birds. Thanks .... Frank

I saw adult and juveniles along the gulf side trails at Emerson Point. It is Palmetto, which is 50-60 miles south.

A good spot right near USF is Lettuce Lake. I hope you made it there.

Thanks Hunter. We did spend time at Lettuce lake but didn't see and Yellow Crowned Night Herons.
